Kim Brio-Cox is a founder and systems designer who builds brands, tools, and media that don't exist yet. Through Brio Cox Group, the Chicago company she co-founded, she develops businesses, creative IP, and human-centered systems, working the same way each time: find what's missing, design the architecture, turn it into something people can actually use.

The Through-Line
Most of my work starts with the same question: what should exist here that doesn’t yet?
I taught myself to code around age 10.
At 12, I was selling handmade beaded lanyards to my mother’s coworkers. By high school, I was building websites for churches and small businesses during an internet era when having a website still felt novel to a lot of people.
I didn’t have language then for what I was doing. I just knew that when I saw a gap between what existed and what seemed possible, my first instinct was usually not to complain about the gap.
It was to start designing what could go there.
Twenty-five years later, the scale has changed. The instinct hasn’t.
